FAQs

Your questions answered…

Where is your studio located?

The studio is located in Traralgon, proudly serving clients throughout Gippsland, Victoria.

Do you travel to client’s homes to do sessions?

All newborn sessions take place in my cozy and relaxing studio where everything is set up ready to go for your session – you won’t need to do a thing, except relax and feed bub if need be. I also have various products on display that you can ooh and ahh over! Maternity, Little Sitter, Cake Smash, Childhood and Family sessions can be held in studio or on location (travel restrictions apply – please ask for more details).

When is the best time to do maternity sessions?

The ideal time is between 32 and 37 weeks, but I do photograph outside of this if required.

When is the best time to do a newborn session?

I love to capture natural and cozy shots of newborn babies typically between the first 5-15 days – this is when they are still nice and sleepy and curly and baby acne and flaky skin usually haven’t appeared. In saying that though I can still get the beautiful newborn shots up until 5 weeks of age.

I’ve missed the newborn age, when is the next best age to photograph?

Between 4 to 10 months of age. This is when we can capture lots of beautiful wide-eye shots, smiles and giggles. Between 7 to 10 months is one of my favourite ages – babies are usually sitting up by themselves and there are lots of lovely smiles, chubbiness and personality! These sessions are called ‘Little Sitter’.

How long does the session last?

Newborn sessions generally last around 3 hours, with time for feeds and settling and the session is never rushed – it’s very easy-going and stress-free for all involved. All other sessions usually last around 1-1.5 hours.

When should I book my session?

It is highly advisable to book your session as early as possible to avoid disappointment.  I limit the amount of sessions per month to ensure the highest quality of service to each individual client.

Cake Smash sessions do require a few weeks notice, I request four weeks minimum, as there is a lot of preparation that goes into creating the perfect theme for your celebration. I also need to order a scrumptious cake. If you require a session in less than four weeks, please contact me as we may just be able to make it work so you don’t miss out!

The best time to book a Newborn session is whilst you are still pregnant to ensure your special date is reserved. What we will do is make a tentative date for your newborn session based on your due date – if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected this date can of course be changed. If you have already had your baby please still contact me, as I may still be able to fit you in and if I can’t I will be happy to refer you to some other photographers who also have expertise in newborn photography.

What do I need to wear and what should I bring?

Upon booking a session you will be given links and passwords to my online session guides in the Client Lounge that will cover all these questions and more to ensure you get the very best from your photography session.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Of course! This is such a thoughtful gift and perfect for any occasion – baby shower, new baby gift, birthday, anniversary, engagement, Christmas, Easter, Mothers & Fathers Day, or ‘just because’. Vouchers are available for any amount starting from $25. Contact me to find out more.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes! I am very proud to offer my clients personalised payment plans to make their dream come true. Check out my Payment Plans page and contact me for information here.

What if I need to reschedule?

I understand that unforeseen circumstances can arise, so if you must change your session date please contact me at your earliest opportunity. Please note that the booking fee is non-refundable but can be transferred to another date with 24 hours notice. Due to the nature of Cake Smash sessions, an additional fee of $50-70 may apply to cover the cost of the cake.

When will our photos be ready to view and how do we order them?

Approximately 3-4 weeks after your photo session you will be invited back to the studio for your own personalised viewing session. This will be the first time to see your memories captured – it is a very exciting and special moment!
During this session we will discuss the best ways for you to display your memories in your home. I offer only the highest quality in products – my clients deserve the best! From hand crafted prints, heirloom albums, home art, wall art and many more.

Do you sell digital files?

I pride myself on offering a full service to my clients, after all you deserve to display your memories in your home. I do offer digital files and encourage all printing of the images to be through me – I handcraft each and every image when I am making it, it’s only natural that your images deserve the same treatment to be printed – which is what I offer you. *Note Kirra Photography takes no responsibility for printing/products that are developed outside of Kirra Photography (e.g. consumer printing through ‘machine labs’ such as Big W, Harvey Norman, Officeworks, Kmart)
